Few say paradise is a time frame, not a destination.
Few say paradise is on earth, not necessarily heaven.
I think its not a matter of finding it, but creating one, your own paradise...
We returned from Cameron Highlands safely, albeit feeling the withdrawal of holiday which was coming to an end. No matter, Nana was about as oblivious of life commitment as can get. Sweet child, she embodies the innocence and carefree-ness of childhood. Seeing her easing around the house with what she did best, which was having fun enjoying herself, makes me smile with relief.
At 13months, Nana totally owns the power of her 2 wonderful legs, and the freedom that comes with it to go up and about. She still has the adorable and wobbly small baby gait that turned more prominent whenever she attempts to move fast. Ever too keen to catch up on us, she would fall forward with her buttock chucking up. As we encourage her, she pushes herself up to stand and steadies her center of gravity, then continue chasing after us again.
Initially a bit stunned from the discovery of the new-found mechanism of her locomotive ability, she gradually familiarize herself like a duck taking to the water. Now, she pushes herself up when she fall, run around carrying objects in her hands, even climbing dangerous heights for her standard. We would make sure she stays with us in close proximity all the time, even though its not like Nana is not clingy enough.
Ever since coming back, we enjoy putting on the strawberry ear muffs on her, as it fits snugly over her head and ears. Need me say more, Nana is beautiful and cuteness personified. Ear muffs almost look natural on her, I would call her strawberry girl if she knew how to respond to that name.
Being more self-conscious as she is aware of the foreign body on top of her head, Nana makes an effort to comply and look to the camera as she knows it will delight us. When she's not in the mood, there's no need to try coaxing her. Otherwise every time Nana is on the ear muffs, she becomes my strawberry girl.
One of the enjoyable thing to watch, which makes me put down whatever task i'm in the middle of, is to come near Nana during her feeding time. I delight to see her drink milk, i would give myself to know whats on her thoughts as she sucks her milk and watches intently her surroundings and me.
The sucking of her milk bottle brings quiet respite to the squealing or wailing depending on her general mood for the day. As she empties her bottle, her eyes lazily shut while she retreats into dream land. Rest, my sweet Nana, then rise up and grow...
At 14months old, there's absolutely nothing to prevent her from climbing on whatever furnitures around the house. The strength, energy and dexterity that propels her to do so, I often wonder from whom she got her traits. Mummy was supposedly a Tom-girl, papa on the other hand was hyperactive as a child. Nana climbs without any fear whatsoever both papa and mami have to constantly be on our toes around her lest any misfortune occur to her.
Looking back i wish i had a creative mind and knew how to entertain my child. I could only put on my dumb face and expect her to be amused by the old tricks I pull out of my hat over and over again. When she gets bored, Nana would climb off my lap and pull something out of nothing to play with, and they're not necessarily toys. I know she's only 14moths old but I wish there was something better to sophisticated to stimulate her mind. Being too ambitious too early, perhaps.
Even mummy encourages that. Like letting Nana play with a toothbrush, or a random medical equipment, or pulling a bag around. And as her hair grow, it is now possible to tie her a ponytail in front of her forehead so that we could all bask in her cuteness. After all, Nana is a girl however active as a boy she behaves like. I still can't make up my mind whether to keep long hair on Nana or just retain the boy-cut look. I don't fancy her growing up to be overly feminine, although its highly unlikely given the current state how she's running up and about, so short hair will do for now.
In 2009 when I 1st moved to Seremban and started work here, and when Karling was pregnant with Nana, we knew we had to buy a house to settle down in. After scouting around, we came across this new housing development situated in a new township at the outskirt of old Seremban town, called Seremban2.
I couldn't recall why we were so hasty to buy a house then, even though we weren't sure if we were gonna permanently stay put in this state. Still, the thought that back me up to purchase was that property price always rises, and I could eventually sell it for a profit even if we were forced to move state one day. So, with the tremendous help and sacrifices of our parents, we made the leap to purchase a double-link house in Seremban2, specifically S2Heights.
Nearly 2 years later, at the end of my housemanship, the house is close to completion. The roads to this future guarded community has been tarred and its time to drive in to admire our future new home. So brand new, so spacious, so clean and unpolluted, its the ideal prologue to building my family block by block, like literally building castle in the air, since i'm aiming high on this one.
And there's a playground already set up even when no one has moved in. I bet Nana was one of the earliest, if not the 1st, to enjoy and be thrilled by these amenity. This place offers the perfect environment for her to grow and flourish as any happy child should. And as the evening sun descend on the rows of unblemished new houses, at the back of my head I was determined to earn enough money to fund the required expenditure of moving to our new home.
...for the ones I love, impossible is nothing..
Close to our soon-to-be new home is an shopping mall called Jusco. Its not as grand as Midvalley or Sunway Pyramid, but its existence makes working life in Seremban more bearable. Its has fast food chains, karaoke, small cineplex and bowling alley.
Most importantly it provides Nana the vast space available to run around without the consequence of tumbling into any home furniture unlike at home. Witnessing her running in her brand new shoes is like seeing a gazelle being set free from its captive. As if it was just yesterday my little girl was so tiny i had to carry her close to my chest to transport her from 1 place to another. How fast my little girl has grown.
...Too fast,too soon.
Assuming the role of a responsible family man, and with the limited finance we own, i have to forgo my plan of buying my dream sport car and settle for a practical multi-purpose vehicle for long term usage. At a price of RM98k and engine power of 1.8cc, it was the best deal compare to other high end sedan and compact car. With its sporty appearance thanks to the edgy "Impul" car kit, my family can travel in style without appearing too conventional.
To sweeten the deal this japanese Nissan Grand Livina 1.8cc is ours for an interest rate of as low as 1.88% per annum, so that in the long run we won't end up forking out for more. Perfectly smooth and steady while driving, my "White Swan" provides sufficient boot space to pack Nana's pampers, stroller, milk can and everyone's luggage whenever we go for any excursion.
...I love the excitement and happiness on their faces whenever my wife and daughter ride in their brand new car.. Those were happier times.
Nothing like coming home and spending time with our cutie-pie daughter. She's the sole purpose we look forward to coming home every working day, to be with her, to play with her, to laugh with her. The small rented house is just empty and different without her presence. Nana fills our lives with light and joy, amidst our rigid and time-consuming work schedule. No doubt she can be equally moody and grumpy at times, her smile and laughter could light up a hundred light bulbs, that it tickles my heart so much so I just want to grab her and squeeze her in my arms as I listen to her squeal..
When mummy comes home early from night shifts, she will bring Nana home from the babysitter to spend time with. That should be one of Nana's happy days, since its bonus time with mummy. She gets to follow mummy around doing house chores, listen to mummy show-and tell, and taking selfies among others. She gets mummy's full undivided attention with no TV at home, not that she's interested in cartoon at this age. Needless to say the major source of home entertainment or leisure we have is each other.
In a nutshell, a new daughter, a new car, a new future home, not forgetting a new baby coming soon. God has granted us so much. It would be foolish not to appreciate what I have and relentlessly pursue other unessential material requirement. I have everything I need right here, though i still need to work hard to maintain it. Then again faith tells me to trust God that He always provide, and never put us to test more than what we can overcome. If only i knew better then, my wife would be happier.
Mami and Papa deserve a pat on their back too.

Nana has assumed her ethereal form, like an angel who brings eternal joy.
At 13months, Nana totally owns the power of her 2 wonderful legs, and the freedom that comes with it to go up and about. Hahaha, you can never hide from me, the house is too small.

Papa, why are there people and animals inside the box?
Grandma asked me to *dink lotsa water. Look, I can *dink from my cup.

Hmm, papa and mami feed me this way. I'm sure i'm doing it right.
Papa, I need some privacy to *dink milk k? Don't "kacau" me when I'm *dinking

I can't stay quiet during sermons, so papa brings me to this room at the back which has only this toy truck.
Ain't no mountain high enough..ain't no chair tall enough, to keep me from reaching you babe~
Whats happening to me and how do i look? Mami can't seem to stop laughing.

Papa says this is one of his favorite photos of me. As innocent as I can be.
Mami tied this tourniquet on me. Gosh, I told you I'm innocent.
Hmm, spot check! What have you gotten in your bag??!! Anything for me?
Even mummy encourages that. Like letting Nana play with a toothbrush, or a random medical equipment, or pulling a bag around. Wide and spacious road in the land of S2 Heights
Brown is the color of earth tone, the house is as spacious as 24x75feet.

Bought our house in 2009 for RM 308k. Right time, right place, right price.
The evening sun ray blankets the still unoccupied houses. Ours faces south, which chinese believe has a favorable feng-shui.
The thoughtful developers play Santa by giving us a playground.
